Legal basis
The processing of your personal data is governed by the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP, in force since 1 September 2023) and, where applicable, by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

SKS Lab: learning account and children’s data
- Data saved: account email, role (student or parent), progress (completed lessons, challenge scores, badges, day streak), Python projects saved by the child and the date of parental consent. Purpose: running the learning path and letting parents follow progress. Basis: contract and parental consent.
- Parental consent: at first login, a parent or legal guardian gives consent (or the account holder confirms being 16 or older). Without this consent, SKS Lab does not open.
- What we do not do: no advertising, no selling, no profiling. Python code runs in the browser with Pyodide, loaded from the jsDelivr network (which only receives the technical IP address, like any website); code is only sent to our servers when a project is saved. Answers typed in exercises are not saved.
- Hosting: account and progress with Netlify Identity, projects with Netlify Blobs (Netlify, Inc., see “Hosting”).
- Retention: as long as the account exists. You can delete it at any time. An account inactive for about 23 months receives a reminder email; without a new login, it is deleted automatically after 2 years of inactivity (at least 30 days after the reminder), with its progress and projects. Invoices are kept for 10 years (legal obligation), separately from the account.
- Feedback and parent summary: if you use the “A problem? An idea?” button, we receive the message, the account email, the page and the device type, to reply and fix the Lab (kept for 12 months at most). The weekly email summary is only sent to parents who turn it on; it can be turned off at any time in the parent area. Sent through Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France).
- Anonymous usage measurement: to see where children get stuck, the Lab counts some events (lesson completed, hint requested, error…). Only the event name and language are sent: no account, no cookie, no IP address stored. These daily totals are kept for 13 months. The browser “Do Not Track” setting is respected.
- Level certificates: the first name typed to create a certificate stays on the device; it is neither sent nor stored.
- Your rights in one click: in SKS Lab, the “My data” section lets you download all account data (JSON file) and permanently delete the account, its progress and its projects.

To exercise these rights, send an email to contact@smartkids-school.ch. Response guaranteed within 30 days in accordance with nFADP.
Data sharing with third parties
Smart Kids School does not sell or rent your personal data. Data may be shared only with: payment providers (Stripe), the host (Netlify), video conferencing tools for courses (e.g. Zoom/Teams), and only if required by Swiss law.

Smart Kids School strives to keep all information on this site up to date and accurate. However, our liability cannot be engaged in case of temporary service interruption, technical errors, or third-party site content accessible via hyperlinks.
Applicable Law & Jurisdiction
This site and this legal notice are governed by Swiss law. For any dispute, the courts of the district of Lausanne (Vaud, Switzerland) have sole jurisdiction.
